PLUN is a design practice tackling realms of Furniture, Objects & Spaces.
Founded by Aditya Chiplunkar
(B.Des - Furniture design, NID’16 and
Master’s in Interiors and Living Space, Domus Academy, Milan’20) and
Co-imagined by
Niyati Shah (B.Acrh - SEDA, NUV),
PLUN has evolved from an adaptation of straight forward processes that result
into simple designs displaying innate qualities of their type, material and finishes. To this approach there is also a conscious address to, when required, Indian-ness owing to the contexts we have grown up in.
Aditya D. Chiplunkar is a furniture and interior designer whose work explores the intersection of materiality, craft, and contemporary spatial narratives. He holds a Bachelor’s in Design(Furniture & Interiors) from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. and a Master’s in Interior and Living Design from Domus Academy, Milan.
His professional experience spans design studios and corporate companies, including Future Group’s Smartsters and Godrej & Boyce in Mumbai, Studio Lotus in Delhi, and a brief association with Studio Claudio Bellini in Milan. He has worked on bespoke furniture collections and residential design solutions.
His vision to set a contemporary design practice, placing it within the rich context of India, materialises through PLUN. Here he carries forward his simplistic approach to design while combining a strong awareness for the context the practice find itself in.
Niyati Shah is an architect with a deep interest in contextual design, material explorations, and the cultural narratives embedded in spaces. She holds a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Navrachana University, Vadodara. Her professional journey spans diverse geographies and practices, including roles at The Design Workshop in Lonavala, Prashant Pradhan Architects in Gangtok and DORO in Ahmedabad.
As a visiting faculty at CEPT University, she engages with academia through a contextuall relevant space-making studio. At PLUN, Niyati’s approach is rooted in layering spatial experiences with material and cultural depth, shaping the practice’s vision of design as an evolving dialogue between context, narratives and processes.
